What Can you do for your Yoni after Sex?

It’s one of those things that you’re not taught in school and most of us would feel uncomfortable asking about it, but what do you do after sex? How do you help your yoni out after the hustle and bustle of the bedroom? EmpressBody knows that many of us wonder this – what’s the best way to clean up your yoni’s natural lubricants, any extra lubricant you may have used, residue from condoms or semen if you and your partner don’t use them? EmpressBody has dedicated a lot of time to looking into this for you, and the answer is: the vast majority of the time you don’t need to worry about it! Your yoni is self cleaning! Things like semen and lube and any bacteria will make their way out of the vaginal canal via vaginal discharge – the yoni’s magical cleaning method.

This is true, but as most of us with yonis know, it can occasionally be thrown out of balance and your vulva might need a little help after intercourse. EmpressBody has developed a special product range specifically designed to help your yoni get back on track and we’ve also researched a couple of vaginal health tips to help you out.

Tip 1. Always Pee After Sex

By urinating both before and after and sex, the urine stream instantly mechanically cleanses and flushes the bacteria that could enter the urethra, which is where you urinate from preventing UTIs.

Tip 2. Don’t Wash Your Yoni with Scented or Perfumed Soaps

While it's not necessary, some people do like to feel clean after they get it on (I mean sex can make you sweaty all over, it’s not just about your yoni) and may want to shower or bathe afterwards. EmpressBody recommends using a gentle, organic yoni wash like the EmpressBody Yoni Wash which contains zero parabens or harsh chemicals which can through your yoni pH balance off (this can lead to yeast infections and UTIs).

Tip 3. Dry off your Vulva and Labia

This is a big one if you are prone to yeast infections. Your vagina is happiest and healthiest when it’s dry. In contrast, yeast (which lives in your vagina all the time, along with a number of other healthy bacteria) likes warm, wet places. The fact of the matter is that your vagina is always going to be warm, so you have to help it out by not leaving it super-wet.

If you get yeast infections often, you may already know to wear cotton panties (because cotton is breathable and stays dry) and not to stay in your wet swimsuit for a long time after you get out of the ocean or pool. Well, similarly, if you put your dripping vulva and labia (vaginal lips) right back into panties, you could be giving your naturally-occurring vaginal yeast exactly what it needs to take over and cause you discomfort! So it’s a good idea to pat yourself dry after sex.
